Kansurok Mission Trip

I am a part-time volunteer/worker of Kansurok Ministry in Marinduque and I’m so blessed to be a part of this team headed by Capitol City Baptist Church.

Kansurok Ministry was started in 2007 through the Marciano family. The concern of the Marcianos to Kansurok people paved the way to begin our mission in this place.

Kansurok is a small town in Tugos, Boac Marinduque with less than 1,000 estimated populations. Their primary means of livelihood is by selling butterflies. Other land owners have their own coconut farms that somehow give alternative employment opportunity to the poor people of Kansurok.

Kansurok has no basic infrastructure like school, hospitals, church and others. They have to cross nine rivers (which will take 45 mins to 1 hour walk) and an hour-and-half travel to get to the nearest primary school or marketplace. This situation of our kababayan in Kansurok really touched my heart especially to the young fellow who used to travel this far and crossed the rivers everyday to attend their primary education.

Although the primary objective of our team in this place was to share the good news to the people of Kansurok and to help them build a strong foundation of their faith, I thought of other things that can make Kansurok a better place for its people. A small building or school for grade school, health care center,or a simple livelihood program, might improve the quality of life in Kansurok.

I know it’s still a long way, and I leave it all to God to make these things possible. For now, let me share to you our journey in this place.
